Hello, my name is Brad and this is my blog that I will be using for my Educational Technologies class. I am a senior at FSU, and I am 23 years old. I have a lot of interests in things such as music, where guitar gear and amps have taken up the majority of my money for the last several years but I would deem this as worth it. I hope to go to graduate school at the end of this year, but who knows what will happen so I just try to take things day by day with schooling. I'm not quite sure what I want out of life, but I believe that this is not really a bad thing to feel.
The majority of my experiences using technology in an educational setting is pretty immense, due to the fact that our generation has grown up in the age of computers. I remember being a child and using game programs to teach things such as math and science, and even the introduction to websites such as blackboard and canvas as early as middle school. While I am not the most technologically inclined individual, I think that the consistent exposure to these mediums will be incredibly useful for me to learn about the ins and outs of these programs. I have gotten quite good at searching through academic databases however, but I am not sure how useful that will become in this class.
My personal learning networks are pretty standard honestly, where most of the new information that I come across is through textbooks and academic articles published online. I use forums a lot for things such as guitar gear however, so I feel well versed in those sorts of networks as well but I do not believe that will be useful for this class. But physical note reading alongside online publications have been an immense tool for me, and I find that things like this and canvas assignments are a great tool for me to learn with. I like to learn new things constantly, so forum digging and reading has quickly become a staple part of most of my days, so I find that this network will help me achieve my goals and needs for this semester and those to come.

ReplyDeleteI've always admired musicians. I was in a choir for popular songs when I was in college. The musicians in my choir looked so cool! I am curious about your music PLN. We will learn and build a teacher PLN in this class but you can think about your music PLN to understand the concept of PLN. To learn violin, I had a private lesson. However, I also participate in a subreddit r/violinist. Additionally, I followed some professional blogs where I can ask questions, find music scores, and learn about some repertoires, musicians, how to maintain my instrument, what shoulder rest I would buy, etc. I could follow famous musicians through social media or YouTube channel. However, my violin PLN has not grown because I was busy building my PhD PLN instead of it. Anyway, I had both formal and informal learning network for my violin and PhD PLN.
