I find that my experience as a distance learner this semester has actually been quite difficult to manage for me, due to the fact that I really struggle with the lack of routine from staying at my house. I guess it makes everything feel like homework, even going to class on zoom and it feels as though I have lost a lot of motivation from the lack of being able to enjoy the campus and the social aspect of it all. While respecting the social distancing, I just wish that we could get through COVID-19 but I know that it is only bound to get worse until we can achieve a vaccine that is widely accessible. I think that as a teacher, the way to improve the experience of distance learners is to ensure that the class has some flexibility, and allow for a greater level of interaction if possible. I know that everyone was sort of thrown into this whole thing, and I guess the best way moving forward is to learn from what has occurred this semester and over summer.

I found open educational resources to be an incredibly useful tool, due to the fact that they are accessible and allow collaboration between teachers all across the board. I found an online resource that is essentially a master list for people looking into adding an OER to their lessons, and I really think that it is something worthwhile for all people who are educators. I think that OER is the way of the future for learning, and the network that the internet allows for educators is going to drastically alter the course of education at a worldwide level. With these resources, we might truly reach the level of democratic equality in students that was unavailable before.

I think that the powerpoint assignments were super useful, due to the fact that I learned how to time powerpoints which is incredibly useful for lecture based teaching that would lose momentum if you had to change the slide constantly. I also found the directing tools for the interactive slideshow to be quite useful, because I remember as a child playing jeopardy type games in class through microsoft powerpoint. I had some annoyances with the interactive powerpoint, due to the incredibly tedious nature of routing all of the links, but I found it to be easier than expected when all was said and done. I think next time I would do a master page that routes as opposed to each page having their own links to each other, and not do a story setup. It was fun making a dorky quest however.
